True Abundance is achieved by stretching yourself beyond your comfort zone to pursue your passion
When was the last time you stretched yourself to achieve more than what you settle for? Switch your routine? Drove a different route to work? Took a risk? Every day of your lives we are presented with choices. The easiest – and safest – option is to stick with what we know, snug in our comfort zone. But the price of playing it safe can be high. By following the same schedule day after day, or staying in a job that brings not joy or satisfaction, you may be giving up your chance to line an amazing life. To achieve true abundance you have to be prepared to stretch beyond your comfort zone and pursue what you truly want in life. It’s all about stretching yourself from where you are to where you would like to be. CLOSE THE GAP If you stress over bills, you need to find a way to close the gap between your income and your expenses. If you are miserable at work, it’s time to change your job. No matter how good, or how successful, you are at what you do, if the highlight of your day is clocking out time, where’s the passion in what you do? If you are a mom spending the best years of your children’s life at work, make sure it’s what you want. My heart and my experience tells me that no mom, after her children have left home, wishes she had spent less time with them when they were growing up. What about using your skills to start your own business? Mompreneurs have every skill need to succeed. Communication, building relationships, and multi tasking are second nature to women. Being a mom trains you to become mentors, coaches and teachers. Anyone who runs a home has organizational skills. Life is not a dress rehearsal. We get one shot at it, and there are no second chances. Allowing your life to just drift by, succumbing to the push and pull of circumstances, or postponing your chance and true abundance by allowing past choices to determine your future, makes no sense. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT The first step towards stretching yourself is deciding what you want. Whether it’s earning enough to cover your bills or traveling the world first class, does your blood pump and your heart race when you think about it? If not, imagine and set your sights higher. It takes the same amount of energy to imagine a big dream as it does a small dream so Dream BIG. Step two is committing to your goal and stick to it, no matter what roadblocks and detours you encounter along the way. If achieving what you desire is easy everyone would be successful, but everyone is not. Only the exceptional few that push it a little further, stretch themselves and go beyond what is required are successful. Welcome challenges as part of the journey. What is a thrill ride without adventure? The third step is the most important step of all. It is accepting that the greatest obstacle standing between you and the life you deserve is you! For most of us, it’s not the destination, but our fear of the journey that holds us back. Now understand there are a lot of excuses, but fear is the mechanism behind them. Fear is disabling. It stops us from seizing our chance to seek a better life. It stops us from moving on from jobs, relationships and commitments that are well past their use by date. It’s an inviting emotional handicap parking space that you keep using as an excuse not to move forward. Self doubt is the single greatest barrier you will ever have to overcome in life. If you don’t think you deserve to live your dreams, you’ll come up with a thousand excuses whey you won’t. “I’m too old, young, busy…” “I’ll wait till the kids are grown.” “I don’t have enough education.” I need a lot of things to get started.” Thinking this way is opening the door and inviting failure to come in. It takes courage, not confidence to pursue the life you deserve. If every successful person waited to become confident, the list of achievers would be a very short one. Ever achiever I know had the courage to pursue their dreams despite of their fears, doubts and setbacks. There are no guarantees in life, but worrying about the what ifs is like saying, “I’d like to be an optimist, but I know it wouldn’t work out.” It’s setting yourself up to fail and it saps energy you could be using to stretch yourself and propel yourself forward. Give yourself permission to live spectacularly. There are no penalties for not achieving the goals you set, so what do you have to lose. Stretch Yourself! Go for it! You may surprise yourself by achieving abundance beyond your imagination. You've said it before. And it always stops you dead in your tracks.
"I can never do this..." You've said it at some point. And you've probably said it more often than you realize. Somebody close to you has said the same thing - that you could never do it. It may have been someone you love. Someone you respected and trusted. And so you believed them. Today you still believe you can't. So you never do what you really want to do. And it's all because of that doubt that says you can't. But You can. When you shift your thoughts, change your beliefs, stretch yourself to think of why you can, and take actions towards accomplishing it. And before you know it, you start to realize that maybe, just maybe, you can. And you can. So if you hear yourself saying: "I can never do this" put it aside. Dismiss it. Don't believe it. Instead, think of why you can and then you'll find a way to succeed. Your subconscious mind and your inner powers, and your actions will lead you to success. Just give them the right directions. Use the right strategies for succeeding. It's not about working hard. It’s more about being consistent in your actions and focused on directing your subconscious I used to say: "I can never do this." But then I realized that if I kept saying that I'll never get anywhere. I thought it was kind of pointless to believe that I can't, especially if I haven’t even tried. It really sets you up to accomplish just about nothing and you lose a lot of confidence in yourself and that’s not good enough. I realized I wanted to be successful in anything I set out to do, If I wanted to enjoy my life, I had to stop saying and believing that "I can never do this." So I started working on myself and making the changes I need to make. It took some time (not a lot) but I got rid of that belief and that negative thought and I replaced it with "I can do this" and reinforced it with small actions steps towards my goals. Some things worked and some didn’t. But I stayed focused and consistent on my little efforts daily to bring me the results I wanted. Those little successes brought increased confidence and belief that I can succeed. You can and will achieve whatever you want. Success is easy when you apply the right strategy. You don't have to work hard to be successful. You simply have to do the right things at the right time, consistently with focused effort. When you make the right choices success comes easily. But you'll only succeed when you believe in yourself and when you believe that you can. Yes you can. Yes you can make more money. Yes you can be in the right relationship. Yes you can have more time to do the things you want to do. Yes you can live the life you want to live. Yes you can... when you have the right strategy. And Stretch Yourself gives you all the steps you need to enjoy greater success You are a powerful person. More powerful than you realize. Stretch Yourself and consciously create the success you want in life today. Stretching you towards tremendous joy and success... Ron Broussard Stretch Yourself I would like to speak about a few things that I have observed, interviewed, and asked some of the highly successful people that you can bring into your life to stretch yourself into your own unique form of greatness.
Focus Focus Focus. Successful people are incredibly focused around their goals. The ones that are most effective, most productive, I found that they simply make sure every single thing they do each day is aligned with their goals. Through every activity they somehow get closer to where they want to be at the end of their lives. Focus is the most important thing if you want to live your best life. Remember energy goes where focus flows. Be Positive and Passionate. The second thing that successful people do is they are positive and passionate. It’s so important to be the most positive person you know. It’s so important to be passionate about what you are trying to create and the life that you’re trying live that other people feel that passion. Because passion is contagious. And when you get exited about your goals, when you get excited about your to do’s, it rubs off onto other people and they get excited too. Work Hard. When you word hard at something that you truly enjoy, results come easily. I have never seen a truly successful leader who doesn’t outwork everyone else around them. Never Stop Improving. Successful people are always creating, always coming up with new ideas, writing them down on post it and on napkins in restaurants. They are always asking how I can be of service to people with my business, my career, my thinking, and my resources. Never accept the ordinary, always push the envelope to excel to extraordinary Use your Time Well. Those four words should dwell in the minds of all who wish to excel at their trade or passion. The idea is simply this; you want to be a master at managing your time. Time is a commodity that once it is spent can never come back to you. This moment that you and I are sharing right now will never come again. This day will never come again. You can’t recapture what you could’ve done today. Be good at focusing your time on the things that truly count. Add Value. Successful people are always asking themselves how can I help other people better their lives. How can I help other people come one step closer to their goals. How can add value to my clients’ business or help them be more efficient in the business operations? Simply put when you help other people get to their goals, they will help you get to your goals. Success cannot be had unless you take someone with you. Build Relationships. In every aspect of our lives relationships is a vital part of it in so many ways. People love being around people they trust, as well as doing business, and socializing. Make the time to build strong relationships without the pretense of missing a sale or gaining new customer. In so many ways a successful life comes down to the quality of your relationships Commit to Excellence. Successful people want to be the best at what they do. They want to be great in their careers. They want to stand for the highest good and truly want to be excellent. You can be successful on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and take Tuesdays and Thursdays off. You have to be excellent all the time or just be ordinary. There you have it - Eight things successful people do. Imagination and Conscious precedes choices, which, with a little action, precedes results. With you as a conscious creator, you’ll make better choices. With better choices you will see better results. Apply my three step formula to the 8 traits I have shared with you. Now that you are conscious about the things truly successful people do, you can make better choices starting today. And as you begin to make better choices, you will see better results. Thanks for reading and if you apply this in your life starting now, just imagine what your life would be like, 90 days, 120 days, or a year from now. Get started and I look forward to connecting with you soon! ![]() We live in a society where controversy sells. Know don’t misunderstand me, I just want you to think for a moment. Just think about Miley Cyrus and her recent ridiculous marketing antics. Our society loves juicy news, shocking revelations, and scandalous topics. Most of the biggest TV programs that are on TV right now is based off of mocking established traditions. SCANDAL to name a few has start followings, viewing sessions, and have trended consistently on social media sites for a while now. Some of the biggest products and TV programs in the world are predicated on mocking established traditions and social values. For example, you might remember the old MTV reality show, "Jersey Shore," created a firestorm of attention, because so many people were intrigued by the controversy they generated. Some controversies even fuel religious and political groups to publicly make an outcry about the situations and what to do to ban them from programming and organizations. I say all of this to ask a question. And that is; If controversy works so well, does it deserve a place in YOUR marketing plan with your business or brand? No, because there's a better option. Controversy just for the sake of shock value usually produces a detrimental side effect. You may get a lot of attention in the short run, but in the long run you may end up sacrificing your reputation. Remember, marketing is not a sprint, but a marathon and you don’t want to lose the integrity of your brand with the public because it’s very hard to get it back. Instead here is a better alternative to use before putting your name or brand on the line: Be contrarian, rather than controversial. There's a big difference between the two. You see, controversy is usually based on a self-centered motive to gain attention to yourself. In contrast, a contrarian approach usually centers on helping other people by challenging and STRETCHING the way they think. You attempt to benefit others by stretching them beyond the status quo and offering an unexpected set of ideas. You know you're being contrarian in an effective manner when people respond, "Hmm, I've never heard that before...I haven't thought about it like that...I'll have to give what you said some more thought, creating conversation and engaging your clients, customers, and fans with a different way of thinking and opening them to seeing something in a different like. Now I know you may think, Ron! These marketing tactics are the same! They may appear the same in the way they stir and rouse people’s emotions. But the difference is between helping yourself and helping others. Controversy leaves a negative taste in everyone’s mouth because it’s almost like your begging for attention, like standing in the middle of rush hour traffic in your birthday suit with a sign saying LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! In contrast, contrarianism tends to leave a positive feeling with everyone, because people love people who consider their best interests to heart. Leave controversy to the businesses and brands that are here today and gone tomorrow. Take a long term view by being a contrarian and create a long standing relationships with your audience that values and respects you today and years from now. |
