![]() If you really want to perform at the top level in any areas of your life, you need written goals and you need to measure progress against those goals. Its been said that what gets measured gets done. This is not an earth-shattering concept. Challenge yourself and STRETCH yourself to take one areas of your life or business that could use improvement, and figure out what measurements matter to you. So here are some tips that I personally use to help you measure what matters to get the results you deserve in business and life, so read on and enjoy! I love to work out and if you've had the opportunity to meet me either in person or at one of my seminars, I am a big guy and for me to achieve my health and fitness that I wanted to achieve, I had to measure; my water intake, my food intake, all the way down to how many minutes I need to do cardio in order for me to achieve the maximum results for my efforts. Leadership skills can be measured by how well you strategically plan, prioritize or deploy your teams. If you want to improve your finances, you can examine balances, what you are spending in excess on, or other critical factors. Take a few minutes and jot down where you are and where you want to be. Be specific as possible. Creating a visual guide to guide your course can be even more effective. I personally use a vision board and it is amazing to see the things you achieve once you’ve written it down and be specific. My girls, Neena and Sahya has joined me by pointing out what I’ve achieved on my vision board and has even taken it a step further by creating their own boards for what they want to accomplish. Sahya's board Involve your team or your family to help you with accountability to help you get there.
See for yourself how much measurement matters as you work towards your personal and professional goals. STRETCH YOURSELF! You’ll be glad you did. Closing Thoughts In my present situation, with this small setback I’m struggling with, I’ve started off by doing my best to measure and be strategic in ensuring that I am measuring what matters to me in my business and life, embrace the reality of ME and my humanness, and the reality unfolding all around me. And over the last several weeks I’ve also opened my awareness to passing strangers who are struggling, just to see how I can help them, maybe with just a thought of clarity. After all, that’s why I committed myself to a 90-day focus and meditation challenge in the first place. Not because I’m super-human or super-disciplined, but because through my struggle I have learned things that will help someone else through their struggles. So, if you’re struggling with a setback today, know that you’re not alone. I’m right here with you, struggling – we’re in this together. And this too will pass. We’ll get through it. And this ‘getting through’ will make us stronger. It isn’t easy now, and it may take us awhile, but it will be worth it in the end. Your turn… What areas in your life are you just floating by and not measuring? What helps you persevere and bounce back from life’s setbacks?
